Two juveniles playing with a cigarette lighter set fire to a dried Christmas tree and nearly burned down an apartment building, the Visalia Fire Department said Monday.
About 12:25 p.m. Sunday, fire crews responded to the apartment building at 1923 W. Whitendale Avenue and found light smoke coming from a garage. A bystander who acted quickly put out the fire, limiting damage to the garage.
Damage to the garage was estimated at $1,000. The building is worth about $200,000.
No one was injured.
