The Central California Blood Center is asking donors to give blood at one of its five Valley sites to help replenish low blood supplies, particularly Type O-Negative.
The center said recent high blood usage as a result of weather-related accidents has caused its supplies to dwindle rapidly, adding Type O-Negative blood reserves are at 9% of needed inventory.
Donors should eat and stay hydrated within four hours prior to the donation. Blood donations take less than an hour to complete and donors can give blood every eight weeks.
A photo ID and Social Security number are required to donate.
