Fresno may be getting more rain this weekend, and there’s even a chance of rain early next week.
The National Weather Service is forcasting a chance of showers on Friday and the possibility for thunderstorms on Saturday, giving the region a second stormy weekend in a row.
Although skies are expected to be sunny Thursday, the National Weather Service forecasted a 20% chance of rain during the day on Friday and a 50% chance at night.
Saturday may bring showers and thunderstorms, with up to a quarter-inch of rain possible, before the rain tapers off on Sunday. In the Sierra, the snow level is expected to drop to 4,000 feet, with several inches possible from Yosemite National Park to the Tulare County mountains.
The chance of thunderstorms can be attributed to a low-pressure system coming down from the north, National Weather Service meteorologist Modesto Vasquez said. The cold air will destabilize the atmosphere, he said.
Next week, there’s a 20% chance of showers on Monday evening and Tuesday, the weather service projects.
