A free health care event to enroll people in Medi-Cal and Covered California Health plans is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salandini Villa Apartments, 13785 E. Manning Ave., in Parlier.
The event is sponsored by SEIU-UHW, a health care workers union with 150,000 members in California which enrolled 12,000 Californians in health coverage during the last open enrollment period.
Each person enrolling needs to bring: Proof of identity such as a photo ID, driver’s license or passport; proof of address such as a piece of postmarked mail; proof of income such as the last 30 days of pay stubs or tax filings from 2013; proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate, permanent resident card, certificate of citizenship or naturalization; date of birth, Social Security number, and home ZIP code for each family member.
For questions about enrollment, the public may contact the SEIU-UHW hotline at (888) 920-4517. The deadline for people to sign up for health coverage and avoid paying a fine is Feb. 15.
