Two lost hikers were rescued Monday in the Sequoia National Forest, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department said.
About 7 p.m. Sunday, the two hikers were reported lost in the Frog Meadow area near California Hot Springs.
They were identified as Grace Abruzzo and Nicolas Abruzzo.
A night search was started and more people joined the search at daybreak, the sheriff’s department said.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter located the pair but couldn’t land due to rough terrain. The hikers were told to stay put and searchers found them about 1 p.m. Monday.
Both were uninjured and given food and water. They were escorted out of the wilderness and returned to their vehicle.
