They come frozen, in a can, and of course freshly made, but would you ever buy a tamale from a place known for its wieners?
Well, if you are into trying something new, then check out Wienerschnitzel’s take on this classic Latino dish. The limited time offer is only available through December.
Never miss a local story.
As many Californians know, tamales are a holiday treat. Those freshly steamed little pillows of masa, stuffed with simmered pork and spicy red chili sauce are total comfort food. And homemade are always the best.
Wienerschnitzel is hoping your tamale craving will get you to try theirs. The Wienerschnitzel version comes with three different toppings: chili and cheddar cheese, guacamole, jalapenos and chili and cheese, and there’s a spicy one with Hatch, New Mexico green chile and chili and cheese.
“We want to show our guests that there’s more than just great hot dogs at Wienerschnitzel,” said J.R. Galardi, Wienerschnitzel executive vice president. “I love celebrating the holidays by eating tamales and now everyone can get them our way, featuring our world-famous chili and other unique ingredients.”
The Wienerschnitzel tamale is stuffed with shredded beef and wrapped in masa. They took the corn husk off for you.
And while traditionalists may turn their nose up at a hotdog company making tamales, several reviews on YouTube gave it a thumbs up.
