Traffic was blocked on northbound Highway 41 near the Friant Road offramp after a crash involving a big box truck, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident page. The freeway was reopened more than two hours later.
The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. when on vehicle rear-ended a stopped vehicle, according to the CHP incident log. A truck was overturned and the entire northbound side of the freeway was blocked.
CHP requested help from California Department of Transportation to close that part of the freeway and divert traffic at Herndon Avenue.
Traffic appeared to be backed up to Bullard Avenue.
Fresno Fire Department tweeted that they extricated three people who were transported to a trauma center in critical condition.
Northbound lanes reopened about 5 p.m., Caltrans reported.
