“A day of genius” is the theme of the next One Day University sponsored by The Fresno Bee.
The event brings together four distinguished professors who lecture on a specific theme over the course of one day. The next one will be Oct. 28 at Fresno City College.
Leading off at 9:30 a.m. will Jeremi Suri, a University of Texas history professor, who will lecture about “FDR’s political genius: The making of the modern presidency.” Among the questions Suri will address are how do domestic and foreign policy collide? What impact does presidential policy have in international order and fascism?
The other speakers are:
▪ Caroline Winterer, Stanford University, 11 a.m. She will talk about the “Remarkable genius of Benjamin Franklin.”
▪ David Helfand, Columbia University, 1:30 p.m. He will speak about “Albert Einstein: His genius, life and universe.”
▪ Closing the event at 3 p.m. will be Anna Hetherington, Columbia University, who will discuss “The Artistic Genius of Michaelangelo.”
The admission price for the full day is $195, but Bee subscribers can get admission for $125 by using the code FB125. A special is also being offered in which two tickets can be purchased for $198.
The lectures will be given in the City College auditorium. The campus is located at 1101 E. University Ave.
