A pedestrian was killed late Tuesday morning in central Fresno when he was struck by an Amtrak train while he was standing on the tracks on Shields Avenue at Wishon Avenue.
The incident occurred about just before noon. Lt. Mark Hudson said the victim was an adult male. The southbound Amtrak came to a stop about a quarter mile from the collision. Hudson said it was unclear why the victim stood in the path of the train or whether he knew it was apparoaching.
