Three new K-9s will be joining the Clovis Police Department sooner than had been expected.
Bolt, Mika and Nova began their six-week training in Southern California on Monday with their handlers, the department said. After graduating on Sept. 15, they will join patrol K-9s Jax, Corda and the narcotics K-9, Murphy, working in Clovis.
Bolt’s handler is Officer Chris Taliaferro. Mika is paired with Officer Dayna de Jong, and Officer Nicholas Mason will work with Nova.
The department said the K-9s were able to start sooner because of fundraising from the community.
