A man is dead and a woman is suffering major injuries after being involved in a crash on Highway 120 in Sonora on Thursday, said the California Highway Patrol.
About 2:27 p.m. the woman, 79, of Oakhurst, was driving 55 miles per hour in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup east on Highway 120, east of Buck Meadow when she turned the vehicle to the right and then into the south dirt shoulder lane where the vehicle collided with three signs, the CHP said.
The vehicle swerved, swiping a pine tree, and then overturning, where it later rested to its right side.
The passenger, an 82-year-old man, died, and the driver suffered major injuries. Neither were named by the CHP. The man’s hometown was not provided.
