A crash in Tulare County has closed Highway 190 near Porterville after a truck driver swerved to miss another vehicle and spilled a load of pistachio shells, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The 12:30 p.m. non-injury crash also left about 4,000 Southern California Edison customers without power. Most are expected to be restored by 5 p.m., according to SCE reports.
The outages are on a circuit that serves Tipton, Poplar and an area near Plainview, west of Strathmore.
As of 4 p.m., about 3,000 customers were without power. By 6:30 p.m., only 50 customers were without power.

While workers repair the power lines in the road, Highway 190 is expected to remain closed several more hours, the CHP website says.
The crash occurred when the truck driver saw a car swerve into his lane and though he avoided the other vehicle, the truck rolled over and dumped its load of pistachio shells on the roadway.
