Remember back in 2007, when Toyota got blasted over that Prius commercial that essentially called Fresno a low-budget tourist stop ghost town? The connotation, of course, was that future cars wouldn’t need to stop for gas and places like Fresno would become fairly obsolete.
One wonders if this isn’t the real future of Fresno County – as a viable and needed stop over for electric cars.
It is totally possible. Fresno County is in the middle of the state (or “one 25-minute charge between LA and home,” as Wozniak put it). Already, there are Tesla Supercharging stations (at Harris Ranch in Coaling and in Fresno at the Marketplace at El Paseo). For the non Tesla electric-car drivers, Fresno Country recently installed a network of free solar-powered electric-vehicle chargers in each of its incorporated cities.
