Allegiant Air is offering cheap, nonstop flights to Las Vegas this summer.
Is the trip worth it?
Some roundtrip tickets go as low as $78 to fly directly from Fresno to the Sin City.
That’s an $8 difference compared to what fuel costs would be to drive from Fresno to Las Vegas and back. Not to mention the reduced travel times.
Sounds like it’s worth the spare change to fly the friendly skies with Allegiant this summer, right?
Some travelers might disagree. There are dozens of complaints on social media about delayed flights.
Last year, an investigation by the Tampa Bay Times reported that Allegiant Air’s aircraft were four times as likely to fail during a flight as those operated by other U.S. airlines. Allegiant planes were forced to make unexpected landings at least 77 times for serious mechanical failures in 2015 alone.
There also was the incident on an Allegiant Air flight bound for Fresno in 2015 that caught on fire as it prepared to take off from McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
Still, those are just a few incidents among hundreds of flights each day.
There are plenty of customers who’ve flown on Allegiant and left happy with their services.
Allegiant is the only airline that flies nonstop from Fresno to Las Vegas.
