A motorcycle driver was killed after crashing with a pickup Friday morning at Fresno Street and Sussex Way in central Fresno, the first of two fatal motorcycle crashes Friday in the Fresno area. The second occurred at South Orange and East Manning avenues, southeast of Easton.
In the Fresno crash, the motorcycle became trapped under the front end of the truck, caught fire and burned.
Police said the truck driver, an 84-year-old man who was not identified, was northbound on Fresno Street and turning into an office complex parking lot in front of the southbound motorcycle.
The motorcycle rider, a man in his 50s, died at the scene. The truck driver was being treated for minor injuries, police said.
The second crash occurred about 12:43 p.m. and involved a U.S. Postal Service truck and the motorcyclist. No other information was immediately available.
