The California Highway Patrol Tuesday provided additional details about a fatal collision Monday involving two motorcycle riders northeast of Fresno at Friant Road and Copper Avenue.
Joshua Gill, 36, of Lemoore, died in the crash, the Fresno County coroner said.
At 9:42 a.m., Terrence Thomas, 41, aboard a Yamaha sportbike, was northbound on Friant approaching Copper, as was Gill, also riding a Yamaha sportbike.
Lois Holt, 90, was driving a Ford Taurus south on Friant and was in the left-turn pocket to eastbound Copper. The CHP reported that as the motorcycles entered the intersection, Holt “initiated a left turn towards eastbound Copper Avenue,” and “turned directly into the path” of the motorcycles,. Both riders were ejected upon impact and sustained major injuries.
Both were taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, but Gill was diverted to closer Kaiser Permanente Hospital because of the severity of the injuries. He died before reaching the hospital.
Holt was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center.
