A 22-year-old died after a head-on collision west of Kerman on Saturday night, California Highway Patrol Sgt. James Del Carlo said.
The man was driving west in a Ford Mustang on Highway 180 near Yuba Avenue about 6:30 p.m. when he sped up to pass vehicles, according to the CHP. His car collided head-on with a Chevy Tahoe driven by a 65-year-old man who with a passenger was heading east.
Both the Tahoe driver and his passenger were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The passenger’s age was not available.
The highway was closed while crews cleaned the wreckage, Del Carlo said, but had reopened.
