A pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a train in central Fresno on Wednesday night, Fresno police Sgt. Jerardo Chamalbide said.
At about 8:45 p.m., Fresno police responded to the scene near Shields and Maroa avenues.
The freight train was going south when a man, who appeared to be white and in his late 20s, stepped in front of it.
When the police and the ambulance got to the scene, Chamalbide said the victim was dead.
Never miss a local story.
It appeared to be a suicide, Chamalbide added. However, police continue to investigate.
