A woman was killed Thursday in a collision involving a go-kart and a vehicle near Pixley, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic incident website.
The victim was identified Friday by the Tulare County Coroner’s Office as Sandra Walker, 44, of Pixley.
Just before 6 p.m., Robert Nez, 23, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup southbound on the 7800 block of Bishop Drive south of Avenue 80 when he crashed into a go-kart, said Visalia CHP officer Ryan McCannell.
Walker was driving a black go-kart in the rain with no headlights on, McCannell said. When Nez saw the go-kart, he tried to stop his truck but crashed. Walker was not wearing a seat belt or helmet.
Medical personnel performed CPR on Walker, but she died at 6:33 p.m., the CHP reported. Nez had only minor injuries and said he would seek his own medical aid.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the collision, the CHP said. The cause is under investigation.
