A pair of events at local colleges this month aim to raise awareness about domestic violence and seek solutions to end it.
The Central California Asian Pacific Women will host its third annual community forum on domestic violence in the Hmong community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Clovis Community College, 10309 N. Willow Ave., Fresno. Event organizers hope to develop leadership and advocacy to prevent and reduce domestic violence.
Teachers, counselors, social workers and other service providers are encouraged to attend the event to learn about Hmong culture and resources to help victims and survivors. The event is open to the public. Go to ccapwdvforum.eventbrite.com or call 559-387-4158 to register.
Campus Community Connection, a program under Fresno City College’s Psychological Services, will host an afternoon of services, conversations and outreach from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 in the free speech area. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple in support of domestic violence victims.
