Wathen Castanos Homes has returned to southeast Fresno for the first time in about 20 years.
The Fresno builder’s last development in the area was Harvest Park near Church and Jensen avenues, said Freddie Logue, vice president of construction.
Now, the company is building in Fancher Creek, west of Fowler Avenue and north of Kings Canyon Road. Its 34-home Creekside Villa development already sold out. But work has begun on the model homes of a second neighborhood nearby called Creekside Parc, which will have 58 houses.
At Creekside Parc, on the south side of Fancher Creek Drive, Wathen Castanos will introduce a new design although it’s an old concept once used in the area. The lots will be deep, not wide, with detached garages and a rear alley entrance with remote gate.

“It was fun for us to sit down and be able to look at something different because we’ve been building a lot of the same stuff recently,” said Peter Castanos, vice president. “It was neat to do that and at the same time stay within the needs of what the folks in the Fancher Creek area are looking for.”
The homes are targeted to first-time homebuyers. The idea is to give buyers a backyard for entertaining and to allow homeowners to use the driveway so “they’ll have a nice big space to include their family and bring people to their home,” Castanos said.
The single and two-story homes will range in size from 1,500 square feet to 2,400 square feet and will have up to six bedrooms. A multi-generational option will be available with the typical owner suite upstairs and a bedroom and bath setup on the first floor for grandparents. Prices start in the low $200,000s.
An interest list is forming with presales to begin in mid-August. A grand opening is planned for October.
