A Guarantee real estate agent in Fresno wants housing professionals to be superheroes in the stressful and confusing world of buying and selling a home.
The idea for the book, “The Power of Real Estate: The 10 Steps to Buying and Selling!” came 10 years ago when Cerda first began her career as a Realtor.
There was no consistent message in the industry about how things are done, Cerda said. “It’s a very emotional place when you walk into people’s homes.”
Cerda grew up in the housing industry. She worked for her father’s custom homebuilding company, Cerda Enterprises. Then in 2005, she became a Realtor when real estate market boomed and died, Cerda joked. About 99% of her business was in short sales — when the lender allows for the house to be sold for less than what’s owed.
“I think that’s one of the reasons I have this passion for fixing this market,” Cerda said.
The book uses colorful cartoons and charts including two Realtors who morph into superheroes as they explain the homebuying and selling process from pre-approval to selecting a real estate agent, preparing for a sale or finding your dream home, writing and accepting the offer and the closing. Cerda also touches on the best home renovations for your buck.
She hopes to distribute the book to banks and lenders to use when working with clients on buying a home.
Cerda’s passion for real estate education doesn’t stop there. She hopes to start a real estate academy for high school students interested in housing professions and wants to work with college students.
