A Utah-based events center company is in the process of acquiring a Clovis site to build its second development in the central San Joaquin Valley.
The Falls Event Center, headquartered in West Jordan, Utah, south of Salt Lake City, has two buildings under construction in northwest Fresno. Company officials have not released information on the Clovis site until the acquisition is final.
The move into California is part of a business expansion across the western United States with facilities also in Colorado, Arizona and Utah. Two centers opened in Elk Grove in November. The company hopes to have 100 centers nationwide by 2022.
In Fresno, two side-by-side buildings are being built on North Figarden Drive, near The Grove shopping center. Two buildings help keep events separate instead of using a divider to make rooms smaller, the company has said.
The $7 million Fresno project will total 17,000 square feet. Each building will have a main event hall, a large conference room, a small bride’s room and a game room. A garden will separate the buildings.
Sam Ramirez, a Fresno hotel manager and chairman of the board of directors for the Fresno/Clovis Convention & Visitors Bureau, was hired to oversee the Fresno and Clovis centers.
