Fresno is one of the top cities in the U.S. for snowbirds and retirees, according to a list compiled by www.apartments.com.
The aging population is looking for nice weather, rental availability, affordability, a strong economy and fellow residents who are similar in age, the online apartment finder said.
Fresno ranks No. 8 in the list of “Top 14 Cities for Snowbirds and Retires in 2014” where the average monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $915. Scottsdale, Ariz., and Henderson, Nev., top the list. The only other California city to make the list is Sacramento at No. 4.
The website evaluated cities by looking at median age, the average cost and availability of two-bedroom apartments, median income, weather and other factors such as flexible leasing options and air conditioning.
