Robert and Karen Bonadelle McCaffrey will be inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame during a dinner in San Francisco on Tuesday night.
The husband and wife homebuilding team of McCaffrey Homes are among seven industry leaders who will be honored. The Hall of Fame has recognized 200 men and women since 1985 who epitomize the spirit of the homebuilding industry and are models of public service through their involvement in civic, social and philanthropic organizations.
Only two other local builders have received the recognition: Leo Wilson of Wilson Development and Spalding G. Wathen, who was chief executive officer of Wathen Bros.
Robert McCaffrey, chief executive, and Karen McCaffrey, vice president, are a third-generation builder constructing more than 8,000 homes in Fresno and Clovis.
The company has been honored with awards and recognitions from Builder Magazine, Eliant, a national home industry consumer research company, and by the National Association of Home Builders.
Both Robert and Karen McCaffrey have served on a number of board organizations. Robert McCaffrey, who had a notable football career at the University of Southern California and for the Green Bay Packers, has served on the boards of the St. Agnes Hospital Men's Club, B'nai B'rith Scholarship and the Building Industry Association of Fresno and Madera Counties.
Karen McCaffrey. the daughter of John Bonadelle, a longtime Fresno homebuilder, has served on the board for Children's Hospital Central California and the University of Southern California's Andrus School of Gerontology. She is currently on the advisory board for the Gazarian Center of Real Estate at Fresno State.
The couple run their company with their children - son Brent McCaffrey and his wife, Liz, and daughter Lauren McCaffrey Knowlton and her husband, Ash.
