Foreclosure filings in Fresno County made a jump in April compared to the month before, according to PropertyRadar, a real estate data company.
But fewer homes are going into foreclosure now than a year ago.
In Fresno, 228 notices of default - the first step in the foreclosure process - were filed last month compared to 198 in March. Last year at the same time, 305 notices were filed.
Notices of sale, which set the date and time of an auction, also increased to 158 in April compared to 136 the month before. A year ago, 225 notices of sale were filed.
There was little change in the number of foreclosure cancellations and actual sales either to an investor or back to the bank.
