Producers Dairy, one of the largest family-owned and -operated dairies in the West, has completed an expansion project that will boost its production by 20 percent.
The new bottling line at the factory’s headquarters at Palm and Olive avenues was needed to meet the company’s growing customer base throughout the state.
Producers distributes milk and other dairy products from Southern California to the Oregon border.
Already, the 10-acre plant pumps out more than 1.5 million gallons of milk a week. With the addition, the company will add about 100,000 gallons a day.

Scott Shehadey, president of Producers and the third generation to lead the company, said the company has been fortunate to be able to grow in a challenging business climate.
Shehadey estimates the company produces more than a billion servings of dairy products a year.
“We are excited about this latest expansion because it allows us to further live out our purpose of nourishing lives, one at a time,” Shehadey said.
The expansion is expected to ultimately add about 50 jobs. The company now employs about 450 workers.
Richie Shehadey, director of marketing at Producers, said the company has set itself apart from its competitors by its local focus. The company buys all of its milk from within 26 miles of its plant.
“Producers has always been committed to having the highest-quality dairy products,” Shehadey said. “And it all starts with the quality of our milk supply.”
Producers also makes flavored milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, ice cream, eggs, butter and juice.
