What’s the one Christmas present you can buy at a gas station that people actually want?
Gas prices in California are falling and expected to continue falling through the holidays, according to AAA of Northern California.
The price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Fresno fell 27 cents over the last month to an average of $2.59. Prices in the Visalia-Tulare-Porterville area fell 16 cents to an average of $2.58.
Valley prices are running slightly below the state average of $2.68. California’s price is 29 cents lower than this time last year.
Nationwide, prices are averaging $2.03. They are expected to fall below $2 by the end of the year for the first time since 2009.
Gas prices are dropping because demand typically drops during the winter months, and crude oil and gasoline supplies are ample, according to AAA. As long as there are no major interruptions in supplies, prices are expected to continue falling.
