Bank of the Sierra will open a new branch early next year in Sanger, filling a space vacated when Citibank closed its branch in the community earlier this year.
Porterville-based Bank of the Sierra is making interior and exterior renovations to the former Citibank building at 1500 Seventh St. The branch will open in early 2016. Bank of the Sierra operates 28 brick-and-mortar branches in the San Joaquin Valley and in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, online operations, and credit centers for real estate and agriculture.
Sanger, with a population of about 25,000, was one of six Valley communities in which Citibank closed branches this year. Citibank’s departure left the city with four remaining bank branches: Bank of America, Bank of the West, JPMorgan Chase and Westamerica.
