Six Valley-based businesses have earned a spot on Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private businesses in the nation.
Barney Butter, started in 2006 as a home-grown Fresno business making and marketing almond butter, was the top ranked among businesses making the list from Fresno, Tulare and Madera counties, coming in at No. 804 overall. The 50-employee company reported revenue of $13.1 million last year, representing a three-year revenue growth rate of 553 percent between 2011 and 2014. It was the only Valley business to make it into the top 1,000 of the list. Barney Butter is making a repeat appearance on the Inc. 5000; last year, the company ranked 684th on the list.
Three other businesses made the list with three-year revenue growth rates in excess of 100 percent: Fresno-based prescription-benefits management firm Integrated Prescription Management at No. 1,515 (down from its earlier rankings of 1,221st in 2014 and 380th in 2013) ; health-insurance benefits company NMP Insurance Services in Fresno at No. 1,721, and PRO-PT, a physical therapy service in Visalia, at No. 2,749, a rise from its 2014 ranking at No. 3285. NMP was also the 17th-ranked insurance company on the list.
Integrated Prescription Management’s revenue of $78.4 million amounted to a three-year revenue growth rate of 271 percent, while NMP Insurance had a growth rate of 236 percent based on revenues of $4.3 million. PRO-PT’s revenue of $5.1 million gave the company a three-year growth rate of 132 percent.

Two other Valley firms made the list with three-year growth rates under 70 percent. The Oakhurst-based restaurant chain Pizza Factory was No. 4,238, slipping from its 2014 ranking of 3,434 with revenue of $3.1 million and a growth rate of 65%. And BCT Consulting, an information technology services company in Fresno, made its sixth consecutive appearance on the Inc. 5000 list, with a 64% growth rate based on $5.8 million in revenue. BCT first appeared on the list in 2010 when it was ranked 1,329th, followed by rankings of 1,993rd in 2011, 2002nd in 2012, 3,274th in 2013 and 4,237th last year.
Also making a mark on the 2015 list was Meathead Movers, a San Luis Obispo-based moving company that is expanding in the Fresno area. Meathead Movers reported revenue of $8.2 million, with a three-year growth rate of 109% that placed it at No. 3,153 on the Inc. 5000 list. The company also made the list in 2012 at No. 3,778, 2013 at No. 2,605, and last year at No. 2,781.
Inc. magazine bases its list and rankings on three-year revenue growth for privately held, for-profit companies, or independent subsidiaries of other companies, that were founded and generating revenue by March 2011. To be considered, companies had to have at least $100,000 in revenue in 2011 and at least $2 million in revenue in 2014.
