A nameless building under construction at Ashlan and West avenues has neighbors curious about what it will be. The answer: A Dollar Tree.
The 8,000-square-foot building is at the southern edge of the shopping center that also holds a Save Mart. Dollar Tree will likely open in June, said Chris Creedon, project manager for Modesto-based Huff Construction, which is building the store.
His company also revamped the former CVS store nearby, gutting the building and knocking down about a third of it. It was rebuilt into a Fallas, a discount clothing store, that opened Feb. 12.
It’s owned by the same Los Angeles-based company that owns the Fallas Paredes stores. The store’s name, Fallas, rhymes with “Dallas,” says the company. It does not use the Spanish language pronunciation where the “ll” has the “y” sound.
That end of the shopping center is turning into a discount center, with a dd’s Discounts open there for years.
