The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on Thursday awarded nearly $4.4 million to housing authorities in the central San Joaquin Valley to build and renovate housing facilities.
The grants came from HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which distributes money to 3,100 public housing agencies annually to help them maintain housing for families and seniors.
The Fresno Housing Authority received a total of $2.3 million for the city and the county. The Kings County Housing Authority got $488,407, while the Housing Authority of the city of Madera was awarded $406,682. The Tulare County Housing Authority received $1.1 million.
