A summer jobs program being promoted by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County expects to train almost 300 young people for paid summer internships at nonprofits and businesses across Fresno County.
Once the teenagers have completed the six-week training in March and April, they can apply for one of about 100 six-week paid summer internships being offered in six school districts, five cities and 40 local businesses. Student salaries for participating internship hosts are being paid for by the Boys & Girls Clubs with a grant from PG&E.
High-school teens ages 15 to 18 can apply for the training program through Boys & Girls Clubs in Fresno, Clovis, Sanger, Reedley and Firebaugh. Details are available by calling the Boys & Girls Clubs at (559) 266-3117.
