The gross domestic product in the Visalia-Porterville metropolitan statistical area increased by 7.6 percent in 2015, the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis reported.
The area includes all of Tulare County.
It ranked No. 4 nationally in economic growth compared to other areas tracked by the government, which released the data earlier this week.
The Visalia-Porterville area’s gross domestic product totaled $14.2 million in 2015, reflecting growth in agriculture and other sectors. Manufacturing showed a slight decrease.
Midland, Texas, was No. 1, followed by San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara and Lake Charles, La.
The Economic Development Corp. of Tulare County, which recruits new business and industry, announced the figures and rankings.
