Dr. W. Eugene Egerton has been named chief medical officer at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno.
As such, he will represent the concerns of doctors on the hospital’s leadership team.
He served for 23 years in the U.S. Army Medical Command before retiring as a colonel. Most recently, he worked as chief executive of Trinity Transition Consultants in Maryland.
Egerton also was chief medical officer at the University of Maryland’s medical center at the midtown campus in Baltimore.
While in the Army, Egerton oversaw the Pentagon’s post-disaster health assessment following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the U.S. military center.
Egerton earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina and did his residency training in adolescent medicine at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He is board certified in pediatrics.
