A Dollar General store is coming to Caruthers next year.
Construction began in August for the new location at 13425 S. Henderson Road.
“Meeting our customers’ needs is our top priority when choosing store locations,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. “We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five mile radius, or 10 minute drive. This new location is a great fit for Dollar General.”
Dollar General stores offer items including food, cleaning supplies, apparel, paper products, health and beauty items, pet needs, home décor and toys. More than 80 percent of items are priced at $5 or less, the company said.
The company is involved in the communities and supports literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, the company said. The foundation awards grants each year to nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 20-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center to support adult, family, summer and youth literacy programs.
The company said that at each cash register in its stores, customers interested in learning how to read, speak English or get their General Education Diploma (GED), can pick up a brochure with a postage-paid reply card that can be mailed in for a referral to a local organization that offers free literacy services.
The store will employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on the needs of the store. Employment applications are available on the company’s website.
The grand opening is expected in winter 2017.
