Another Asian citrus psyllid insect has been found, the Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office said Wednesday.
The insect was discovered Tuesday southwest of Exeter, and positive identification made Wednesday, the office said. No additional information was available.
Asian citrus psyllid can carry a disease that attacks citrus trees for which there is no cure.
All of Tulare County is already under quarantine, as is part of Fresno County.
The state-imposed quarantine bans movement of citrus trees out of the area, and harvested citrus must be free of the pest before shipping. Transporting backyard citrus out of the area is discouraged.
