Newcomers gather for meal

The Newcomers Club will hold a luncheon at 11 a.m. Nov. 20 at The Manhattan Restaurant, 1731 W. Bullard Ave. Skip Essick, KMJ radio newscaster, will speak. New residents of the Fresno/Clovis area are invited. Registration deadline is Monday. Cost is $22.50.

Tree Fresno seeks applicants

The Junior Board of Tree Fresno is accepting applications for the 2008-09 term. High school students are eligible. Deadline for applications is Friday.

Foundation awards money

The Fresno Regional Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 to organizations throughout the Central Valley dedicated to improving the health and well-being of youths. Programs that received funds are: Fresno Barrios Unidos, the Boys and Girls Club of the Sequoias, California Health Collaborative, Assistance League of Fresno, Boys and Girls Club of Fresno, Center for Independent Living, Comprehensive Youth Services, Edison High School, EOC Sanctuary Youth Services, Focus Forward, Fresno Philharmonic, Gay-Straight Alliance Network, Lowell Neighborhood Resource Center, Fresno County Superior Court, Westside Youth and Yosemite Institute/Wildlink.
