A 22-year-old man suspected of auto theft and burglaries and wanted for questioning in a homicide was captured Tuesday after fleeing across six lanes on Highway 41, Fresno police Sgt. John Jensen said.
An auto-theft enforcement team saw the man in the back seat of a car on the 500 block of North Fowler Avenue, Jensen said. During the pursuit, officers said by radio that the suspect was wanted for questioning in a homicide.
Marked police cars pulled the car over on Highway 41 just north of McKinley Avenue. The man jumped out, crossed the freeway and was caught while climbing the west side embankment. Drivers had to swerve their vehicles to avoid hitting the suspect and pursuing officers.
Jensen said the suspect is a Bulldog gang member wanted in connection with an auto theft and two commercial burglaries. No additional information was immediately available about the homicide investigation.
Two others who were in the car also were being questioned, Jensen said.
