Fresno County sheriff’s deputies recovered three stolen tractors and a trailer and arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the thefts, the Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

Deputies received the report of the theft of two tractors and a trailer from a farm storage yard in the area of Clovis and Nebraska avenues about a week ago. The equipment was estimated to be worth several thousand dollars.

While investigating the thefts, detectives said they learned the man had contacted the victim of the thefts and offered to return the equipment if he would drop criminal charges against him.

He was arrested without incident at a home in Caruthers, the department said. His bail was set at $520,000.

Detectives recovered the stolen property from the Caruthers area and another tractor that had been reported stolen in Riverdale in 2003, the department said.
