Three men were arrested Thursday night after they attempted to rob a southeast Fresno man who is the father of one of the suspects, police said.
The three suspects arrived at the victim’s home about 6:30 p.m. near Tulare and Willow avenues, pointed a gun and demanded money. When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the suspects forced the victim at gunpoint to drive to an ATM, Lt. Anthony Martinez said.
The suspects followed in a white van as the victim headed to an ATM. On the way, the victim saw a police unit and began driving erratically to get the attention of police. The suspects noticed and fled the area, Martinez said. The victim gave the description of the suspects’ vehicle to police, and the Police Department’s helicopter found the van in southwest Fresno.
Police stopped the van near Dunn and Thorne avenues and took all three suspects into custody. Police recovered the weapon and are investigating.
