A former Fresno County welfare worker was convicted Monday of selling methamphetamine to an undercover sheriff's detective in November 2008.

The Fresno County Superior Court jury took less than half a day to convict Anna Rosales of felony possession of methamphetamine and possession for sale. She faces up to four years in prison. Judge Arlan Harrell set sentencing for Dec. 18.

Rosales, 38, was working for the county welfare office in Selma when she sold "an eight-ball" -- an eighth of an ounce of methamphetamine -- to an undercover detective on Nov. 26.

The detective paid Rosales $200 for the drugs, prosecutor Nathan Lambert told the jury. The transaction was monitored by an anti-drug surveillance team, and Rosales was arrested immediately because there was an ongoing investigation into her actions, Lambert said.

Attorney Kojo Moore, who represented Rosales, however, said his client didn't sell the drugs to the detective. He said neither her fingerprints nor her DNA were found on the baggie containing the drugs.

Rosales, who is in Fresno County Jail, no longer works for the county. She also faces felony charges of identity theft and possession of stolen property.

The charges stem from a probe of alleged food stamp fraud from November 2008 to January this year, court records show.
