Ladies’ morning retreat
A ladies’ morning retreat titled “Song of Songs as His Loved One” will be held at Valley Christian Center, 4649 E. Shields Ave., Fresno, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the church. The event will feature several speakers and brunch.

‘Dress a Girl Around the World’ sewing day
Campus Bible Church’s Stitches for the Savior group is asking volunteers to help sew simple dresses on Saturday, April 30, for girls living in poverty overseas. Fabric, patterns, sewing machines and instruction will be provided.
Michelle Tompkins, coordinator for Stitches for the Savior, says dresses made Saturday will be sent with a JARON Ministries team going to the Philippines in August.
There will be three sewing sessions Saturday – 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. – at the church, 4710 N. Maple Ave., Fresno.
Women of Influence tea and luncheon
Clovis Hills Community Church will host its annual “Women of Influence” spring tea and luncheon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1. Tickets are $15 or $25 for two. Children 12 and older may also attend.
Organizers say the event is “a time to celebrate the women that have influenced your life and ministry!” Tickets can be purchased at the church.
Art of Meditation event
An “Art of Meditation: Resilience and Surrender” event will be held from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Fresno’s center for the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization, 7319 N. Fourth St.
Sister Elizabeth Padilla, program manager for the Brahma Kumaris Anubhuti Meditation and Retreat Center in Novato, will speak and lead the meditation. Padilla has been studying and teaching Raja yoga meditation since 1985.
The event aims to help participants unwind and develop inner strength and resilience by learning “three steps to peace of mind: accept, surrender and let go.” The event is free and includes refreshments.
Tim Hawkins to perform at Northside Christian
Comedian and singer/songwriter Tim Hawkins will perform at Northside Christian Church, 2709 E. Nees Ave., Clovis, with comedian Taylor Tomlinson at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, or $33 per person for groups of 10 or more.

Christian Business Men’s Connection presentations
The Christian Business Men’s Connection will have two speakers in May.
John Supino will present “My Life Story” from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Pardini’s, 2257 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno. All are welcome. Tickets are $20. Supino will talk about being a coach, an insurance agent and then deacon of the St. Paul Catholic Newman Center. The G.L Johnston Ministry Leader Award was presented to the Rev. Larry Arce and posthumously to Pastor Chester Riggins.
On Thursday, May 26, Larry Powell will present “Whine or Shine” and Jesse Paz will share “From Prison to Church to Disneyland” from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at Cornerstone Church’s Conference Center, 1525 Fulton St., Fresno. The event, which includes breakfast, is for men only. Tickets are $10.
