Fresno State talk about Armenians in post-genocide Turkey
Fresno State’s Armenian Studies Program will host Massachusetts Institute of Technology associate history professor Lerna Ekmekcioglu, who will present a talk titled “Survivors into Minorities: Armenians in Post-Genocide Turkey” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the University Business Center’s Alice Peters Auditorium. Copies of her book “Recovering Armenia” will be on sale.
Mayoral forum at St. Anthony Mary Claret
Faith in Community moved a mayoral forum from April 14 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church, 2494 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno.
Questions have been gathered from 18 communities of faith for the candidates about issues throughout Fresno.
Another Voice potluck and social
The Another Voice group will hold a potluck and social for LGBT people and allies at First Congregational Church of Fresno, 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd., Fresno, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, where Another Voice members also will discuss plans to participate in the June 4 Fresno Gay Pride Parade and Festival.
‘Art of Positive Living’ event
An “Art of Positive Living” event will be held at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization satellite center in Fresno, at 7319 N. Fourth St., from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 17.
The afternoon will include guided meditation, silent reflection and inspiring words aimed at opening people up to new insights about themselves and learning ways to cope with life’s challenges.
