Jackie O. Kelley performances and book signings
North Carolina-based gospel recording artist Jackie O. Kelley, a Fresno native, will be performing and holding a number of book signings in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 22, while she is back in the city to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award in Gospel Music from the central San Joaquin Valley chapter of the Edwin Hawkins and Walter Hawkins Music & Arts Love Fellowship Conference on Saturday (more information in “other events” listing below).
Kelley will be signing her new book, “Forgiven,” from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Majesty Bible and Gifts, 7020 N. Cedar Ave., Fresno, and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the African American Historical & Cultural Museum of the San Joaquin Valley, 1857 Fulton St., Fresno.
She will sing during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Faith Worship Christian Center, 550 S. Garden Ave., Fresno, and during the Watts family barbecue, 1448 N. Blackstone Ave., that starts at 6 p.m.

St. Columba Church, 5073 N. Palm Ave., Fresno, will host a Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, that will include crafts and homemade goods, including wreaths, jewelry, scarves, baked goods and blankets. Lunch is available for purchase.
Proceeds benefit the Good News Club, Evangel Home, Made for Them and Hinds Hospice.
An All-Church Advent Festival will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at First Congregational Church of Fresno, “The Big Red Church,” 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd.
Participants will create ornaments, gingerbread houses, Christmas wreaths and other decorations. Bring a hammer (please label) for crafts.
The festival also includes a potluck and decorating the sanctuary’s trees.
Nearly $60,000 raised for Saint Agnes Holy Cross Center for Women
The St. Agnes Women’s Club raised nearly $60,000 for the St. Agnes Holy Cross Center for Women during the club’s annual Cirque de Fashion Show & Entertainment event on Oct. 24.
The center serves as a refuge for homeless women and children. Each day, the center welcomes an average of 140 women and 20 children. More than $14,000 of the donations will go toward purchasing industrial-sized washing machines for the center. Every month, the center provides more than 3,000 articles of clothing to those in need and does nearly 300 loads of laundry.
The Bridge Church, 3438 E. Ashlan Ave., Fresno, will host its annual Christmas Songfest at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. Music will include congregational singing of traditional carols.
Guest artists include the Buchanan High School Chamber Singers, and autoharp and musical saw by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Royer. Colorful Christmas attire is encouraged.
Diocese of Fresno receives communication grant
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno recently received a $1,500 communication grant from the National Catholic Society of Foresters.
The grant will be used to purchase lighting equipment for a televised program for young adults on KNXT Catholic Television, which is owned and operated by the diocese. The program will feature a panel of youths and special guests.
