If you’re a wine lover, you’re going to be in heaven this weekend.
There are wine trail tastings in Madera and Fresno counties, more wine tastings at local businesses – and even a mechanical bull at one winery.
Here’s the run-down on wine events in the central San Joaquin Valley this weekend.
▪ The Fresno County Fall Harvest Wine Journey runs from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8. For $8 in advance, $10 at the door, you can taste-test at 11 wineries, two breweries and two wine shops.
Never miss a local story.
Twenty percent of the ticket price goes to Central California SPCA. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.fresnocountywinejourney.com/.
Nine wineries are participating. Expect wine tasting, food samples, live music and shopping at vendors set up at the wineries.
Tickets cost $25 in advance, $30 during the weekend. Tickets and details are available at http://www.maderawinetrail.com/.
▪ Cru Wine Company is in Madera County, but it is not part of the Madera Wine Trail event and instead is having its own event this weekend. Its “Dare to Go Stemless” event requires a separate ticket that costs $10 in advance, $15 at the door. A ticket gets you a stemless wine glass and a glass of wine.
Saying it just wants to try something different, the winery will have mechanical bull riding available on Saturday, Nov. 7, with $5 rides (or free rides if you buy a case of wine).
There will be no bull riding on Sunday, Nov. 8, but there will be a lot of sangria available.
A barbecue lunch will be available both days from noon to 3 p.m., and local band Cottonwood Creek will play.
The winery is at 20146 Road 21 in Berenda, north of Madera, and tickets can be purchased at http://cruwinecompany.com/.
▪ The Patio Cafe in Fig Garden Village is doing an informal wine tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The restaurant will be pouring four wines. The tasting costs $10, but the cost is waived with the purchase of an entree or appetizer. Live music will be provided by Without a Doubt. Details: (559) 243-1074.
▪ The J. Sorrenti Wine Bar & Bistro at the Sierra Nut House is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7. The wine bar is at 7901 N. Blackstone Ave. in the Villaggio shopping center.
The event will feature music by the Grass Kickers, wine tasting, cheese sampling, and gourmet food and soup tasting.
