Woman Goes Viral After Finding a Dead Mouse in Popular Energy Drink

What would you do if you found a dead mouse at the bottom of your energy drink can? Well, that's exactly what happened to Chandler Manusky, a content creator who shared her experience (and the alleged evidence) on TikTok. Up to now, her original video has amassed over 10 million views.

Manusky said she was drinking an Alani Nu energy drink. As she was pouring out the drink, which she had drunk about three-fourths of, she realized the can was still heavy. Once she felt a thud, she investigated the situation and saw the mouse, which she showed on camera.

"Someone drinking from a can containing a mouse may have already been exposed to a variety of serious diseases, including hantavirus, which has made headlines lately from the cruising world, leptospirosis, salmonella, and others that can be transmitted through droppings, urine, and saliva," says Stephen Wagner, co-founder of Wagner Reese LLP, a personal injury law firm. "When something like this happens, most people don't discover the contamination until they've finished, and by then, you're already exposed to these dangers."

"I'm never recovering from this," Manusky wrote in her caption. "Alani Nutrition, you have some explaining to do…I don't like MICE in my drinks."

Since the video went viral, there's been a back-and-forth debate online regarding whether this was real or if it was staged to get views. But apparently, it's also not the first time this has happened to an energy drink user. On Manusky's video alone, several commenters stated that they've seen other people post about the same thing happening to them.

In 2025, Fox 2 Detroit reported that a Michigan woman, McKenzie Cain, had found a mouse in a white Monster energy drink she had purchased from a bagel shop. Though Monster called it a hoax, Cain's attorney said foreign objects are found in people's food more frequently than you would think.

Up to now, we haven't seen Alani Nu publicly address the matter. Men's Journal reached out to its team via email for comment.
