‘Boston Blue’ Season 2 is coming

At the end of 2025, CBS announced that Boston Blue would be returning for a second season, and as fans of the show prepare to say goodbye to their favorite characters tonight, there’s peace in knowing it’s only for a little while.

“These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, back when Boston Blue was renewed for a new season alongside their other network hit, Sheriff Country.

A role for Donnie’s wife in ‘Boston Blue’ Season 2?

Much like with Blue Bloods, the cast of Boston Blue quickly formed a bond that felt like family—and there’s talks of making the show a full-on family affair by including Donnie Wahlberg’s wife, Jenny McCarthy!

“I’m always texting with Jenny and Donnie’s always texting with [my husband] Kenric [Green]. So we have this really interesting four part friendship going on, which is growing and it’s really sweet,” Sonequa Martin-Green told UsWeeklyabout the fun relationship between the two couples. “But we talk about Jenny coming on the show all the time.”

“Jenny and I have discussed it. We’ve all discussed what she could possibly do on the show,” Wahlberg told UsWeeklyin a separate interview. “What most people don’t know is that she was offered a part on Blue Bloods when we first started dating for an episode and we decided it was best not to do it. We didn’t want to distract the audience with that.”

Tom Selleck has a new show on the way—could he appear in ‘Boston Blue’?

Fans were excited to learn that Tom Selleck, who led the original Blue Bloods, would be taking on a new gig hosting Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck, where the former fictional crime solver dives into some of the most notorious crimes in history and the folks that put a stop to them. As for whether he’d appear on Boston Blue? It isn’t highly likely.

“I don’t know if I would do Boston Blue. That’s another show,” Selleck told Hour Detroit. “I think it’s partly my lot in life to make sure Blue Bloods has its place in television history, but I don’t think it’s my lot in life to keep playing Frank Reagan.”

Donnie Wahlberg is hitting the stage this summer

While we might not see Donnie on screen for a bit in Boston, you can catch him on the stage this summer in Las Vegas. New Kids on The Block: The Right Stuff Las Vegas Residency takes the stage throughout June, July and October. For more information, visit the Park MGM official site.
