TBS launches a 'Sex and the City' for men

LOS ANGELES -- Actor Danny Masterson describes his new cable comedy, "Men at Work," as a male version of "Sex and the City."

He's not talking about how the four stars -- Masterson, Michael Cassidy, Adam Busch and James Lesure -- strut around in hot fashions. He's referring to the storyline of four very different friends talking about their different sex lives. Read more →

Networks shake up fall TV lineups

The five major TV networks have announced their plans for the 2012-13 season and that means 21 new shows will launch in the fall with the hopes of becoming the next big hit.

But if past years are any indication, many of the new programs will miss. For the 2011-12 season, the networks added 27 shows and only 10 will return for a sophomore season. Overall, the networks either canceled or ended the runs of 37 programs, including "House," "Desperate Housewives" and "One Tree Hill." Read more →

TV briefs: Travel Channel to air 'Trip Flip'

Where's my bag?: The Travel Channel enlists travel expert Bert Kreischer to turn the tables on vacationers and offer them a fantasy retreat in the new series "Trip Flip" premiering with back-to-back episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m. June 28.

Bentley: Elijah Wood's size belies character

One of the interesting things about animation is how often there are no physical similarities between the voice talent and their on-screen character.

That contrast struck me when Elijah Wood walked into the small conference room at the DisneyToon Studios. The actor -- best known for his role in all three of the "Lord of the Rings" films -- stands just 5 feet, 6 inches. 'Treasure Island' heads to Syfy

"Treasure Island," the classic 1883 pirate novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, has been made into 30 different movies, spawned more than 20 prequels and sequels and has been the source for at least one TV series.

You can now make that 31 films. Syfy Channel will air the latest adaptation, this one starring Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland, at 7 p.m. May 5. Read more →

TV briefs: Life after Wisteria Lane

Life after Wisteria Lane: Golden Globe winner and famous "Housewife" Teri Hatcher has signed a directing and recurring guest star role deal with ABC Family for the original series "Jane By Design." Hatcher will be playing Jane's (Erica Dasher) long-lost mother for four episodes to be filmed between mid-May and mid-June, and will make her appearance starting on the June 19 episode.

Rick Bentley: KFSN names new news director

KFSN (Channel 30.1) has promoted executive producer Michael Carr to the position of news director.

Carr replaces Tracey Watkowski, who left the local ABC station to take over the KGO newsroom in San Francisco in late March. Watkowski came to Fresno in 2006 from KGO, where she was the assistant news director. Read more →

The seventh season of the locally produced “0 to 5 in 30 Minutes!” — starting at 7:30 p.m. tonight on KVPT (Channel 18.1) — will feature a slight change.
