In the central San Joaquin Valley, Anglicans said the Vatican's plan to help Anglicans convert would have little or no effect on them.
In December 2007, Bishop John-David Schofield of the Fresno-based Diocese of San Joaquin led a secession movement out of the U.S. Episcopal Church over differences in areas such as same-sex blessings and the role of women in the church. More than 40 Valley parishes took part in the breakaway.Any Anglicans interested in conversion would've already done so, says the Rev. Gordon Kamai, pastor of Christ Church Anglican in Oakhurst."I think those Anglicans who felt drawn to Roman Catholicism have already made the jump," he said. "It's a nonevent."
